The cleansing of the chemical substances by the Substance Validation Group (SVG) is now completed!

The SVG has been mandated by EMA to execute substance assessment to be recorded in EU-Substance Reference System (EU-SRS) (for specific classes)• The group is also intended to act as the (virtual) European organization to maintain substances at this level of detail, for re-use at National Competent Authorities.

Rozema who is leading UNICOM WP2 is proud to announce that the final cleansing results had now been handed over to the EMA SMS team, for further processing and implementation in the Substances Management Services(SMS) database.

Annet Rozema who is leading UNICOM WP2 is proud to announce that the final cleansing results had now been handed over to the EMA SMS team, for further processing and implementation in the Substances Management Services(SMS) database.

UNICOM WP2 has a central role in driving IDMP implementation as substances identification plays a key role in all use cases. The resources made available by UNICOM have allowed to give the necessary impetus to this critical task. 17.000 unique chemical substances & associated names have been cleansed.

Next to cleansing the chemical substances data, the chemicals data handling rules were established in documentation.

This documentation will be used on a continuous basis by the SMS & SVG team when handling new chemical substances and maintaining existing chemicals data.

This will support the team in keeping the high quality in substances data for use by EU regulators (SMS + EU-SRS) as well as industry (SMS).

The details of the cleansing results have been shared with the SVG steering committee;
