UNICOM present in Panhellenic Congress to support IDMP implementation in Greece

The Panhellenic Congress on Economics and Health Policy 2022 is taking place in Athens on December 12-15, 2022. The focus of the 2022 Congress is on “Sustainability and resilience: Securing the future of health systems”.

The presence of UNICOM during this major Greek event is initiating the willingness of the project to be present in national events in 2023 to support to creation and/or further integration of national eco-systems around the wide implementation of the IDMP standard.  Important results have been achieved both at European and national levels and time has now come to bring around the same table all the actors of the value chain and discuss implementation scenarios and next steps.

On December 12, Robert Van Der Stichele, the UNICOM WP8 lead, will animate a workshop which will bring together different public and private actors and will discuss IDMP implementation scenarios in the Greek context.

On Wednesday, 14 December, at 14:30-16:00 a session will be devoted to IT tools in medicines policies where IDMP & ePI  (electronic product information ) will be discussed.  While Robert Van Der Stichele will provide a global overview of the impact of a wide IDMP implementation for patient safety and pharmacovigilance while  Giovanna Ferrari,  from the Gravitate Health, will discuss more specifically the electronic patient information leaflet use case. Fakhredin Sayed Tabatabaei, Medicines Evaluation Board, Pharmacovigilance Unit, Netherlands and Dimitrios Filippou, President of Hellenic Drugs Organisation (EOF)  will also contribute to this session which will be led by Elpida Fotiadou, Deputy IT Director at IDIKA SA (e-Government Center for Social Security and eHealth Services) in Greece. 

More than 1000 participants participate every year in this congress with significant influence in policies. The congress is organized with the support of many scientific medical associations and institutions and attracts all health sector stakeholders, state organizations, healthcare professionals, payors & regulators, public officials, patients, social, economic, and humanitarian studies scientists, representatives of scientific agencies and universities, public servants, industry, and journalists, and it addresses the healthcare issues in a 360o manner.
